Tbilisi hosts Gender Conference and adopts Tbilisi Declaration
Tbilisi hosted one of the region's biggest gender equality events on 10 November, the International High-Level Conference “Achieving Gender Equality - Challenges and Opportunities in the ENP Region”. The first conference in the region organized under the aegis of the GoG, EU and UN, it brought together some of Europe's top leaders including HRVP Mogherini and UN Assistant Secretary-General UN Cihan Sultanoglu. "Gender equality is not simply a moral duty, it makes our societies richer and more secure", stated HRVP Mogherini in her opening remarks. Georgian FM Kvirikashvili emphasized that gender equality is central to Georgia's commitments under the AA. “We are the generation who will finally eliminate discrimination of women based on the principles of gender equality and women’s rights”.
